Earth Retention Systems

Earth retention is a significant factor in any project because any remediation requires time and money. Also, there is always the potential for earth movement before the project is completed. Our earth shoring systems involve retaining soil that is prone to unstable flow due to excavation or existing structures. Common uses include:

  • Excavation support
  • To shore up existing structures
  • Stabilization of natural or man-made slopes
  • Bulkhead support and remediation

The design and construction of an earth anchor is often complex due to the soil structure, depth of the groundwater, weather, superimposed loads, seismic loads, and adjacent construction. We design practical and economical earth retention systems for any structure or any conditions:

Tieback Anchors – Our Magnacore Self-Drilling Anchors combine drilling, placing, and grouting into one step. The AB Chance Helical Tieback System has helical bearing plates welded to a central steel shaft. The load is transferred from the shaft to the soil through these bearing plates.

Soil Nailing – Using hollow, threaded steel rods, we can stabilize slopes and structures at shallow or deep depths.

Ground Screw – Earth screws consist of a helical end-bearing plate that is welded to a central steel shaft. This acts as a large-scale “earth screw” that is drilled into lateral walls for permanent support.
