The Magnacore® Self Drilling Anchor is a hollow bar injection-bore micropile that offers an economical solution in situations such as collapsible soils, areas with large boulders, or other obstructions. The micropile installation process involves a single, top-down operation. The hollow bar serves as the drill string, and a high-pressure, neat cement grout mixture is injected through the bar. The grout mixture acts as both the drilling medium and the reinforcement for the micropile. As the neat grout mix exits through grout ports located at the end of the sacrificial bit, it permeates into the surrounding loose soils.
This combination of injecting the neat grout mix and its subsequent permeation into the adjacent soils forms a competent reinforced grout column. The grout column provides structural support and enhances the load-bearing capacity of the micropile in challenging soil conditions. By using the injection-bore technique, hollow bar eliminates the need for open-hole drilling and allows for efficient installation even in difficult ground conditions.
Magnacore offers an economical and effective alternative for situations where conventional micropiles may encounter difficulties due to specific soil characteristics or obstructions in the ground.
Learn More About Magnacore Applications
Micropiles
In projects with limited access or weak soil conditions, Magnacore micropiles prove to be highly beneficial and suitable for a variety of applications. Micropiles have emerged as a preferred method for stabilizing deep foundations due to their reliability, versatility, and efficiency.
Soil Nails
Soil nails are used in the construction of earth retention systems to provide support in areas requiring deep excavations or where slope stability is a concern. The design of these systems must address factors like movement control, stability during construction, and wall drainage. Magnacore is a suitable option for such projects, as it can be utilized for stabilizing slopes, soldier pile and lagging installations, as well as soil nail applications.
Tieback Anchors
A tieback is a horizontal rod used to reinforce retaining walls for stability. With one end of the tieback secured to the wall, the other end is anchored into the earth with sufficient resistance. By utilizing Magnacore self drilling anchors for tiebacks, you can save time and is more cost effective with the quick, efficient, all-in-one installation.
