Soil Retention

Earth retention systems are constructed to provide support where deep excavations are made or slope stability is a concern. The design of these systems must consider movement control, soil strength during construction, and wall drainage.

Tieback Anchors

A tieback is a horizontal rod used to reinforce retaining walls for stability. With one end of the tieback secured to the wall, the other end is anchored into the earth with sufficient resistance.

By utilizing Magnacore SDAs for tiebacks, you can save time and money with the quick, efficient, all-in-one installation. Magnacore has high production capabilities with minimal vibration or displacement of soil screw anchors during installation. You can determine instant load holding capacity and continuously monitor torque with Magnacore Tiebacks. Because of Magnacore’s unique design, they can be used as earth anchors and shoring in areas of limited access.

Soil Anchoring System for Slope Stabilization

Soil Nails (or ground screws) are heavy-duty steel reinforcing members. They are driven into the ground in a uniform grid pattern and grouted to unify the soil. This screw retention turns the given section of earth into a cohesive mass.

Magnacore Soil Nails require less underground easement than conventional tieback ground anchors. When you use Magnacore for your soil nail wall, they can be installed directly underneath an existing structure. This feature allows you to maximize space for adjoining construction. There are no height limits, and the installation creates minimal vibration, minimal soil disturbance, or displacement of soil. A decorative facing can be installed in front of Magnacore Soil Nail Walls.

Soldier Pile & Lagging

When excavations occur near existing structures and utilities, Soldier Pile and Lagging is often required. This need is especially true when deflection tolerances are stringent and when excavations are greater than 20 feet.

Soldier Pile and Lagging is an earth retention system consisting of steel piles driven or placed in drilled holes. After the soldier beams are installed, the earth is excavated along one side of the beams to expose a cut face of land and to partially expose the front faces of the beams. Then lagging is installed with either timber or sprayed shotcrete to hold back the soil.

Depending on the geometry of the wall and soil conditions, Magnacore Tiebacks are installed to provide additional lateral resistance. Tiebacks are most commonly required when excavations occur near existing structures and utilities, especially when deflection tolerances are stringent or when excavations are deep.
