TIP Description
This TIP is intended to provide information on the ChemGrout CG-680 High Pressure Colloidal Mixer grout plant that is used for the installation of Magnacore hallow bar micropiles.
Background:
The CG-680 is an integral part of micropile installation. The grout plant provides high pressure grouting from the double acting, positive displacement 32 GPM
pump. The high sheer colloidal mixer provides increased grout strength through full hydration of cement particles, reduced mix time, and enhanced flow rate. It also has reduced maintenance cost due to the reversible ball seals and chrome plated plungers.
Working Tips:
- 1. A minimum 1 inch diameter hose needed for connection to water source.
- 2. Before mixing grout check all systems including grout distribution circuit with water, and that grout lines are not obstructed.
- 3. NEVER run the grout pump unless there is grout or water in the batch tank.
- 4. If positive hydraulic pressure is not noted within a few seconds of starting the motor, stop the motor and investigate the cause.
- 5.Each unit is filled with SAE 5w30 motor oil instead of commercially produced hydraulic oil. Any commercially available motor oil with service rating of SE, SF or SF and SAE Grade SW30 or higher is recommended for replacement.
- 6. The beginning of the cleaning cycle should involve pumping clean water through the system until clean water with no grout is seen out of the discharge hose to ensure as much grout is flushed from the system and hoses as possible.
- 7. It is recommended to remove the drain plug at the bottom of the pump after each cleaning cycle to ensure all water and grout residue has been removed. The cleaning cycle should also involve full disassembly of the ball valves in the dual acting pump, not just pumping water through the system. Failure to do so may damage the pump.
- 8. WHENEVER IT IS NECESSARY TO REACH INTO THE MIXER OR PUMP FOR ANY REASON, MAKE SURE THE PRIMARY POWER SOURCE IS SHUTDOWN AND DISABLED. IF THE ENGINE IS POWERED, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND REMOVE THE KEY.
